The concept behind GigGopher started when magician Peter Wood was magishing his way through college. Shuttling between home and campus each weekend, his paper-based booking system was beginning to fail him. Having a client's information in one spot wasn't working, because invariably the paper ended up where Peter wasn't.
There had to be a better way, but one didn't exist ... yet.
He teamed up with web developer Christie Richards to create a simple booking system, allowing him to log into a secured website - anywhere with the Internet - to access, edit, and print out his gig information. Not only did it improve the level of customer service he was able to provide, but with this increased security came a decreased chance for loss of information.
With the success of the first version, Peter and Christie began expanding what the site was capable of, further streamlining the booking process, and making communication with clients easier.
Soon Peter discovered that his fellow performers had a use for this system as well, and work began on a gig management system that was customizable, user-friendly, and allowed for multiple entertainers to have accounts. The name "Gig Gopher" was chosen, not only for the aliteration and .com availability, but because it "goes-for" your gig information.
Our mascot, Gigabyte, is the design of artist Crystal Corby; he makes for an excellent spokes-gopher, given his versatile performing abilities.
Our slogan is our mission statement: we want to be your show secretary, booking buddy, and gig guru.
As your show secretary, we'll make sure nothing gets lost, and you can quickly and easily access your gig information from anywhere (well, anywhere with the Internet, that is).
As your booking buddy, we remind you of the important questions to ask your clients when booking a gig. The clicking of computer keys tells your client that you're a professional who is on the ball.
